About Basketball (Winter Season Only)

Town and Country Basketball offers boys and girls in grades 2 through 12 the opportunity to play recreational basketball. We have 6 boys’ leagues and 5 girls’ leagues organized by grade level. Our priorities are to provide a safe, fun experience for players of all ability levels, beginner through advanced, and to teach basketball fundamentals, team play, and good sportsmanship. No players are cut from their teams and all players exhibiting good conduct and arriving on time are assured of playing 2 periods each game. The leagues are not open to players on middle or high school teams.

Operational Summary

The Basketball program has only one season: winter. Registration begins late October, and leagues fill up as space is limited. Games start in January, ending the last weekend in February, and each team has one practice per week at a RRISD school. Leagues are as follows:

2nd & 3rd Grade Boys -- No standings, put together by buddy request and geographic area.

2nd & 3rd Grade Girls -- No standings, put together by buddy request and geographic area.

4th Grade Boys -- Coaches draft team after preview of players (tryouts)

5th Grade Boys -- Coaches draft team after preview of players (tryouts)

4th & 5th Grade Girls -- Coaches draft team after preview of Players (tryouts)

6th Grade Boys -- More competitive league with advancing skills. Coaches draft team after tryouts.

6th Grade Girls -- More competitive league with advancing skills. Coaches draft team after tryouts.

7th & 8th Grade Boys -- League designed for boys not selected by school teams.

7th & 8th Grade Girls -- League designed for girls not selected by school teams.

High School Boys -- Boys allowed to put teams together with friends.

High School Girls -- Girls form teams with friends.

All games must be covered by a commissioner so volunteers for coaches and commissioners are appreciated. A commissioner works with the league in which their child participates. Step up and volunteer!
